When it comes to getting a hole in the bottom of a gutter for a downspout i m sure the pros have some quick way to punch out the perfect hole in a few seconds but for us home owners we are stuck doing it by hand.
Cutting hole in gutter for downspout.
Make sure the patch is large enough to overlap the hole by at least 1 in 2 5 cm on all sides.
Here is what worked for me.
Step 1 is to draw the shape of the hole and drill s few holes around that shape.
If the patch isn t already small enough to lay flat against the inside of the gutter and over the hole cut it down to size with your metal snips.
Slide a rivet shaft into the rivet gun.
Drill through the side of the downspout and into the connector.
This is the thing that connects the gutter and downspout together so it is important that it is placed correctly and securely.
Repeat the drill and rivet on the other side of the downspout to connect it to the main gutter.
Press the head of the rivet into the drill hole and squeeze the handle of your rivet gun to lock the rivet into place.
Keep your thick work gloves on.
